Hashivem

Emotional and psychological help

Hashivem – Havinenu’s leading telephone and online hotline in the chareidi and dati communities, is operated by professionals, along with volunteers with a professional background who have undergone comprehensive training so as to offer assistance for various difficulties. Those manning the hotline attend in-service training and are supervised by professionals who accompany the center. The people turning to Hashivem are men, women, and adolescents who are struggling with a wide variety of problems, including: anxiety, loneliness, depression, parent-child communication and behavioral and health problems together with their repercussions, life stage crises, and unemployment. Our support on the Hashivem hotline is not psychological or psychiatric treatment, but rather aid with the goal of listening, providing support, and giving initial guidance with complete anonymity, with referral to the relevant bodies when needed. The service is available in Hebrew, Yiddish, and English.

Yadem

Offering information and self-help articles

Yadem is a project for increasing accessibility to self-help information in the wider community. One of the goals the organization sets itself is publishing and disseminating information about mental health. For this reason, the organization’s professional staff, together with other professionals, publishes articles providing expert guidance and help regarding a wide range of emotional and educational difficulties and struggles. The material is available on the Havinenu website and is published in chareidi newspapers and magazines from time to time. The material is adapted to the chareidi lifestyle and common problems, resulting from the experience of the organization’s professional staff.

Horem

Training and guidance in the community

The Horem staff, alongside additional professionals, teach training courses and professional workshops in a variety of mental health fields – identifying suicidal tendencies and people with emotional distress and how to provide them with mental health first aid, as well as workshops about ADHD and learning disabilities and other emotional difficulties. The training is attended by volunteers, hotline staff, educators, and therapists. The participants are given in-depth knowledge alongside practical tools – the result of the many years of experience of first-rate professionals. Likewise, the organization holds conferences for the general public to raise communal awareness about various issues, such as the mental health stigma and accepting those who are different, and providing initial tools for coping with a variety of problems prior to seeking professional help. The activity is organized by the Horem division, under the auspices of Havinenu and in cooperation with the various relevant organizations.

Havinem

After analyzing the case, we refer people to the appropriate help for the specific case, with emphasis on viewing the whole picture and a holistic, integrated, and comprehensive solution to all aspects of the problem. The initial consultation is provided by professionals including counselors, social workers, and a psychiatrist.

Mental Health Information Center

Our information center provides access to treatment for the ultra-Orthodox and religious community in Israel through three main indexes. The first one is the index of ultra-Orthodox therapists, a database of certified mental health professionals and child development specialists sorted by region, city, and type of treatment or intervention offered. It also includes information about reimbursements from health funds. The second index specifies organizations and associations that offer emotional and psychological therapy, searchable by location and areas of specialization. Some of these organizations have agreements with the Ministry of Health and health funds to provide discounted services. The third index is dedicated to ultra-Orthodox coaches and consultants. This index includes a database of ultra-Orthodox coaches and consultants who have received training and certification, as well as teachers for remedial instruction, guidance, and education.
